students' words about anita
When I was four, Anita was my first piano teacher. I learned from that very young age the extent of her patience and dedication to her students. Even as I type this letter, my hands are naturally in a curved position as if resting on a piano keyboard instead of a laptop keyboard. For more than a decade, she has taught me from beginner to beyond ARCT.
Her teachings have stayed with me for all these years and many more years to come. What sets her apart from other teachers is simply how much she cares; about her students and the music. Her passion and enthusiasm for piano is discernible to anyone who receives lessons from her. She is truly a teacher and a mentor, from head to toe (or in this case, fingers). Teaching is an art in itself - as much so as music is - and she is able to express exactly what she wants her students to achieve and how to achieve it. And achieved, they have; as pianists, as performers, as competitors, and as well-rounded individuals. |
To the beginners: you are in good hands. You will learn to enjoy and appreciate music. You will learn to play your favourite songs and much more.
To the transferred students: you are certainly in better hands, rest assured. You will gain an insurmountable wealth of musical proficiency. To the students who have stayed for many, many years: I think we can both agree you have made the right choice and likely agree with 99.9% of what I have written, if not completely. To my teacher: thank you for all that you have taught me. I think as a teacher, you’ll be proud and happy to hear that music has and will always be a fundamental part of my life and that being an accomplished pianist has been my most monumental and greatest achievement in life so far. Music is definitely a skill that will never leave me. It is a gift that no one will ever look back upon and regret - that’s unheard of. Instead, so many people have said - myself included - how glad they are to have pursued music and never quit. Pearl S.
ryanI have learned and practiced the art of piano with Ms. Chan (member of Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association) for 6 years and still continue to do so. During these years, I have learned quickly yet proficiently. In addition, I have improved my skills drastically, progressively eliminating my weaknesses one by one. For instance, my fingering as well as sight-reading were initially skills needy of aid. However, over the years spent with Ms. Chan, these flaws have been well-polished and practically re-done. Although I still possess areas in need of improvement, I trust that in time, with Ms. Chan's excelling method of teaching, I will efficiently reach my goals. Most importantly, with her help and experience, I have learned to love music and the core instrument in its history, the piano.

Hey, my name is Estelle and I've been Ms. Chan's student for about 5 years already. Since I started, I have definitely seen an improvement in my piano skills. Ms. Chan is probably one of the best piano teachers ever because she makes sure you understand what you should do better next time and gives you different drills to practice your techniques. She encourages a positive attitude while playing and expects thoroughly practiced pieces. As a result of her precise training, my brother and I participated in multiple piano competitions, such as the Markham Music Festival and ORMTA, and won numerous awards. I learned that playing the piano helps exercise your brain, challenges your hand-eye coordination, and even gives you something to be proud of. Now, I'm in grade 8 piano and studying advanced rudiments. ~ Estelle S.
